Hello Master, I have Whirlpool ET18NK and I follow the troubleshooting flowchart. my question if the compressor is warm to my touch, does that indicate the start relay is working and the compressor is bad? if the compressor is running and vibrating, and both fans (evaporator and condensor) but the fridge is not cold (both top and bottom), the only thing I can think about is the compressor needed to be replaced. that means I need another fridge what do you think?

If the Fridge is too warm, the Compressor should be running .. would need to have a look at the frost pattern of the Evaporator Coils

thank you I am sure that the fridge is bad. I would like to know for sure whether the start relay is bad or the compressor is bad. the start relay is an electronic part and there is no refund once purchased. I want to save money. so if the compressor is warm, does that indicate the start relay is good? I need to replace something else, right?

You can ohm out the compressor windings==> http://fixitnow.com/wp/2010/09/09/identifying-compressor-terminals-start-run-and-main/ ...and would also want to check fro high impedance leak from windings to ground for this test to be definitive. Easy way to tell if the start relay is bad is by simply removing it from the compressor’s control pod and shaking it. If you hear any rattling, it’s fried. I would like to know for sure whether the start relay is bad or the compressor is bad. Not true if you buy the parts through this site-- you can return any part within 30 days, even electrical parts that were already installed.
