Hey guys,

I am hoping you can help me out.  Wife called today to tell me the washer was making a grinding noise.  Got home, pulled the agitator out and found the dogs worn.  Still making noise with agitator out.  Pulled the drive coupling and found cracks and high wear.  Replaced the coupling and the dogs and the noise went away.  During the test I noticed when I the tub spins all is good, but as soon as i release the switch the tub stops really hard.  Is this simply a brake adjustment or is this only because there is no load in the tub (normal operating)?

Thanks

Hold onto the spin basket while putting the washer into spin after by-passing the lid switch...after it gets up to speed and runs 2-3 minutes then release the spin basket....might need to do this several times to get the rust burnished off of the break pads on the clutch...or just spray a tad of silicone or WD-40 onto the clutch to do the same thing....do not get too much onto the clutch however.  This is just normal rust getting onto the pads from moisture in the area of the washer...
