So, my old dryer has been gradually getting worse and worse with this squeal ever since I disassembled it to fix a wire that had come loose and rubbed against the drum causing it to short out. I guess I must have not re-assembled it correctly because this squealing has been going ever since then. Or maybe not? I don't know. It is not a very high pitched squeal, but instead more of a middle pitch. Someone told me it could be a roller bearing. When it gets going, it is VERY LOUD. It sounds like the whole drum is reverberating. In any case, I thought I'd ask on here to see if this is a common problem. If necessary I can post a video of it; just let me know.

most likely you need to replace the rear bearing assembly
