I have a Kenmore Gas Dryer (76923692) and it started not getting very hot. No matter what setting it was on (besides air) the flame would go on/off all the time but never stay on long enough to get very hot. It would take 2 hours to dry a small load. I replaced the hi and low thermostats and it still did the same thing. Then just for fun I removed the hi thermostat and the dryer now gets too hot. If the temperature dial is on any setting except air the dryer gets too. Hot when it is on air the flame does stay off. I have attached the schematic and any assistance would be helpful. I also did remove the vent hose and that did not help. This is the first of the help forum I belong to that requires a fee to post but I will be very happy if I get the correct answer to fix this. If it no longer shuts off too soon after bypassing the Hi-Limit Thermostat, then it's either bad, or there's not enough air-flow. Check the Lint Screen and check the air-flow out the Vent Also check the model number again, should be 110.xxxxxxxx |

The instructions for this forum said to leave out the 110. that's why I did not post it. The full # is 110.76932692. I already replaced the hi and low thermostat and that did not do it. I checked the continuity of both and they look OK. There is no problem with airflow as the back of the dryer put out lots of air. Lint screens and the venting has all been cleaned and the air flow to the outside is fine. |

Dryer Vent Vent should be rigid metal. Short lengths of flexible metal may be OK, if not crimped when moving the Dryer into place. NO plastic NO PVC NO screws Foil Duct Tape is OK. With an empty load, Timed Dry, High Heat, the vent temperature should cycle somewhere between 135F and 160F |
