Since this is a product problem give whirlpool a call they might give you a concession for the part where they might provide the part at no cost just a little advice try not to tell them you are not the orginal owner,they might know if the orginal owner sent in the product regerstion card in 1-800-253-1301 is the customer assistance line also say you not quite sure of the purchase date good luck
