Hello--

My dryer is stopping every few minutes and giving me an E1 error message.

Based on other threads on this site I've ordered a new thermistor to replace the one which appears to be malfunctioning.

My question is where it goes. Samurai Appliance Repair Man, in the old thread, writes  "The thermistor lives on top of the blower housing". Where is that, and do I have to remove any parts (apart from the lower panel) to get there?

Is there a diagram of this part of the dryer anywhere?

As an aside, I should add that my wife and I bought this dryer, a Kenmore Elite (same as Whirlpool Duet) in 2002. While we have used the heck out of it, something is always going wrong with it.

Until last year it was under an extended warranty, so it was up to the Sears repair folks to deal with it. And they were here at least twice a year. Now it's up to us to fix, and here is the first item.

Anyway, thanks for your help!
