 Thanks very much for the manual. I did get it to perform the self tests and put it into defrost mode, which it recovered from correctly. I am puzzled though as it is failing the 0 3 test - Temperature control panel to dispenser board communication. I can't see how that could have anything to do with this issue however??? Unless... that just indicates a general motherboard problem.

I'm still assuming that it is the motherboard, and that it doesn't necessarily fail everytime it does defrost, or manually initiating it isn't the same as it doing it on its own, or that defrost has nothing to do with it and it just does this every few days. I'm curious though, on a normal basis, with the doors opened a few times a day in normal use, how often should one expect the fridge to defrost? The manual says anywhere from 8 hours to 60 hours of compressor run time, but I don't know what that translates into in actual use.
