Asko T700 wheel drum replacement/belt replacement
Disassembly:
Unstack dryer from washer.
Unplug dryer from wall, washer from dryer, disconnect dryer duct
Lift front of dryer up, “walk” dyer forward to remove tangs in back
Lay dryer face down
Remove top of dryer
Remove back of dryer
Remove periphery screws, not 4 centering around nut/shaft
loosen nut (will turn drum, so start with quick jerk)
bring nut to top of bolt shaft to protect threads, tap with hammer to unseat shaft from bearing seal.
Lift back of dryer out of way, do not disconnect wires, take them out of holders only
Take out air ducts
Remove tube caps from both sides
Wiggle cross duct out
Remove “L” duct from fan assembly
Remove belt and lift drum out
Clean belt path on drum, tensioner pulley wheel, and grooves on motor drive shaft
Take off drum wheels
Cut “finger hole” in side of plastic this “workaournd” will allow you to NOT take out the entire plastic assembly (which seems to be a contrived source of frustration) and allow you to stick your finger in to hold the nut on as you tighten the drum wheels
Re-assembly:
Put on drum wheels, place nut in back with finger, tighten, use medium locktite thread binder
Put new, thicker, longer, spring on tensioner
Tape belt to drum (straight) on normal line of belt travel
Carefully seat drum back into dyer
Height of back of drum should be about ½ inch lower than sides of dryer
Thread belt through pulleys, remove tape
Reattach “L” duct, and transvers duct, replace tube endcaps
Place back of dryer back on
Make sure not to crimp and wires, and that they are still all attached
Tap back of dryer around bearing shaft until near flush with level of bearing
Replace top of dryer, restack

Dear scuba415,
1. This is an excellent post which I have taken the liberty of copying for future reference.
2. I have been reading your prior post regarding your noisy Asko T700 Dryer with bad rollers and have a question for you.
a. By "bad rollers" do you mean the wheel bearing with round black rubber covering that is on the right side of the dryer if you are looking at it from the front.
b. If this is what you were refering to, could you please post how you fixed your problem. (On your post you said the bad roller was on the left side of your dryer. I did not see a roller on the left side, just the right side.)
c. I removed the front panel of my ASKO T700 Dryer to see what was making the dryer squek so much and found the black rubber part of my roller had fallen of its bearing and was cracked in several places. It was laying on the bottom of dryer right underneath the bearing.
d. Was replacement simply a matter of getting a new rubber part and putting it back on the bearing or is a new bearing with new rubber needed.
e. How many roller bearings is on/in the ASKO T700? If there are more than one, I would like to replace them all at one time.
I thank you in advance for your reply. If what I am describing does not match your problems please tell me so that I can place a HELP message in the regular forum.

Dear Samurai Appliance Repair Man,
1. First sorry for only addressing my earlier reply to scuba415.
2. You are more than welcome to reply to my plea for help and I wish you would reply.
3. After searching the archive for noisy dryers and drum rollers, it appears that a full disasembly of the dryer is necessary for drum roller replacement. However, a schematic and/or instructions does not yet exist for any ASKO Dryer. There is one detail write up for a belt replacement on the same ASKO T700 Dryer that I have. Will this write up get me to where I need to go to replace my drum rollers.
4. How many drum roller does my ASKO T700 Dryer have and what other replacments part do you suggest I replace at the same time as my drum rollers.
5. I thank you in advance for your reply and please accept my apology that no insult to you was intended for refering to scuba415 only in my first post. Thanks.

Hi, Tx, no offense taken-- this is an open forum were anyone an talk to anyone else, there are many topics here in which I never comment.
I deleted the new topic you posted on this same subject to avoid redundancy.
Your dryer has two drum rollers in back. Scuba's instructions should server you well. There are diagrams for the Asko but they are not helpful. The service manual, however, is very helpful and includes illustrations and good instructions. It's too big to attach here but I could be persuaded to email it to you with your generous love-offering to my flavorite charity.
You'll probably find that one drum roller is obviously bad and the other seemingly good. Replace both regardless of the condition of one. Part link: http://www.repairclinic.com/referral.asp?R=154&N=722130

Would you replace the bearings and belt if you were me and given the age of my dryer (six year old.) I clean the lint before every drying session and do a semiannaul duct and bottom housing cleaning as well.

Excellent question! Well, as long as you're going to all the trouble to take it apart and given that it's 6 years old, the belt may show signs of wear (cracking, splitting, etc.) and, if so, it would be wise to go ahead and replace it.
The idler pulley can be another troublemaker. Assess its condition carefully-- if you have any doubts about it, replace it, too.
Fun fact to know and tell: when I'm on a service call and I have an appliance torn down, I always inspect rolling components for signs of excessive wear. If I think it should be replaced, I'll advise the customer accordingly. They may or may not want me to do it, but at least I've made them aware of it.

| Hey - Thanks sooo much for your VERY helpful posting on the wheel drum replacememnt procedure. You mention too also replace the spring to the tensioner with a new heavier spring-where do I obtain the new spring? Thanks again, for a $20 replacement wheel, I saved a $150 service call!!! Way to go!!!

Scuba - many thanks from Down Under for your post.
I found I did not have to drill any holes when replacing the drum rollers.
I simply tilted the machine back upright, opened the door, and undid the four Torx screws that hold the white plastic trim around the dryer front opening.
The front plastic trim and the plastic assembly where the drum rollers are mounted are one and the same.
This permits you to move the plastic trim inward. Just enough to squeeze your hand in behind it to hold the load roller Nyloc nut.
I have attached photos of the plastic trim dislodged with a view of the Nyloc nut.
