It's a Duet front-loader. Surprised to hear about the "no warranty" thing, where did you buy this?

Your water temp being lower than typical may well be causing this issue.

Remove the three screws holding the lower panel to the washer and look inside, I think you just might find the wire harness to the sensor has come loose.  Two black wires with a while connector on the end.  If you find it, put it back on.  If the harness is connected, you may be looking at a bad sensor or control board.  Look into the warrantee just in case.  Whirlpool should still warrant the washer for 1 year from your purchase date.  Scratch and dent included.
