A few months ago I had to replace the rear bearing on the drum, had issues with getting it restarted... today I had to remove the drum to re-grease the bearing because it started that screeching thing again...and again having issues with getting it restarted. I put everything back EXACTLY like it came apart, I took pictures to make sure, and it won't start. It is getting power, the light comes on, and when I turn the start switch I can hear the timer ticking...but the drum will not engage and turn. I am really losing patience, it did the same thing last time, we kept playing with the wires and it just started working, don't have any idea what we did, and am really not in the mood today to play with it for hours. Does anyone have any idea why it is doing it, or what to do to make it stop short of placing in on the highway in front of the next big truck????????

does it humm when you turn start switch? you need a third arm for this but... open door, push in door switch button,turn and hold start switch then give the drum a spin by hand did this start the drum turning? if not you likely pulled a wire loose somewhere i dont see many of these, but your GE dryer is made by frigidaire

I tried your suggestion, unfortunately it had no affect. I did notice that a wire was loose on the back of the timer when I put everything back together, but I did't think I had pulled it since I didn't remove any of them when I took it apart. Having it on or off does not seem to make a difference in it not starting. Am having someone come over to look at the motor area to see if I pulled anything there when I removed the drum from the bearing bracket. I did not take the drum all the way out so could not see the motor, and am not capable of crawling around on the floor to look under there. Do you happen to have, or know where I can get my hands on a wireing diagram for the top piece where all the timers and switches are? I do not have the money to buy another dryer, and going to the laundry mat to dry is taxing, and money I could be spending on something else I really need. Thank you for your suggestion, Wish it had worked.

you should have a wiring diagram inside the console of the unit if it doesn't make sence you can take a pic or scan and post it, tell us color of wire that was loose and we can tell you what terminal it should go to on the timer unfortunatly because your frigidaire has a GE model number i dont have access to the tech info online maybe another tech will read this and post one up *poke* btw to remove the drum you DO NOT remove the bearing from inside the drum, you remove belt from the idler pulley and lift the drum up an inch and it pulls right out the front(it fits like a trailer hitch)

ok... msdonna let us know what color the wire was that came off the timer and we can make sure you have put it back in the correct place my most enlightened counterpart has brought up something that needs to be looked at normally frigidaire dryers do not have a belt safety switch, but yours made for GE has one, somewhere near the motor pulley for the belt and the idler for the belt is a switch, its a safety switch that disables the unit incase of belt breakage, its my guess this was somehow distrubed during your previous repair, or the belt was not reinstalled properly and is now broken

I know all about the bearing, and you don't have to remove the belt to move it 2 inches to put more grease in. I only unplugged 5 wires, and I put them back in exactly the ame place, I just don't understand why it won't engage. The stupid thing is driving me nuts. I have checked every wire in the entire dryer, and nothing else is loose. I don't understand.
