When you turn the timer and push the button, nothing happens. I was checking the continuity on several things. Where the heating element is, there are two flat looking things. The top one (larger one too) has continuity and the lower one, below the heating element, doesn't have continuity. Could this be the problem? If not, any other ideas? Is there a way to check the timer switch? THanks, Jimmy

PYE2300AYW Wiring Diagram click on picture ![]() thermal fuse location diagram also check your dryer vent to see if it's clogged / crimmped / restricted... Dryer Vent Vent should be rigid metal. Short lengths of flexible metal may be OK, if not crimped when moving the Dryer into place. NO plastic NO PVC NO screws Foil Duct Tape is OK. With an empty load, Timed Dry, High Heat, the vent temperature should cycle somewhere between 135F and 160F If you have a Harbor Freight Store near you, click on picture $ 2.99 ![]()

Thanks for the help. I see it is called the thermal fuse. In the picture showing the new thermal fuse, it has two smaller ones and one larger one. The larger one and one of the smaller one (magenta/pick) colored one are around the heater element. The magenta/pick one is the one that has no continuity. Is there another one somewhere else? Also, is it best to change out both of them at the same time? On the vent, when I pulled the dryer out, it has one of those stretch aluminum/wired vents. It was smashed on one side, about half way. I told them that would cause it to not dry very well. And my guess that is what killed the lower thermal fuse. This is my daughters dryer. THe dryer vent is about 14" above the floor and there is very little room between the dryer and the wall. I haven't been able to find a good vent that would work in that space. Where should I be looking beside the home depots and lowes? THanks... Jimmy Last edited on Sat Oct 24th, 2009 06:33 pm by Golferdude |

the small pink one is for electric dryers, the yellow one is for gas dryers .. yes, change them both (large and small pink) ... they sell them as a kit with the larger one, because that's the one that went bad first, then the smaller one blows.. something like this.. various models extend to different lengths.. http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=84556-131-3006

Thanks.... another silly question, on the dryer vent you referenced, the rippled/squeezed end, does that go into the wall connection?

yes, just like a "regular" 4" vent pipe.. The Dryer has a "squeezed" stub.... "un-squeezed" Vent pipe fits "over" that .. so as not to have an "inside lip" in the direction of air-flow
