Bypassed the fuse and dryer runs. Element cycles on and off in a seemingly normal manner.

But what caused the fuse to blow? Should I be looking for a hidden problem or was this just a result of me overheating the element 3-4 times earlier in the day when I was attempting to run the dryer without the front panel on?

Can I run the dryer with the fuse bypassed if I keep a close eye on it?

Thanks.

Vent should be rigid metal.

Short lengths of flexible metal may be OK, if not crimped when moving the Dryer into place.

NO plastic

NO PVC

NO screws

Foil Duct Tape is OK.

With an empty load, Timed Dry, High Heat,
the vent temperature should cycle somewhere between 135F and 160F

I would think it is ok to run it if you are right there with the dryer, might have just blown cause you opened the door and the heat was on full blast, who knows.  Be sure the vent is open from the dryer to the outside, fuse could have been ready to go ka-bloowie, who knows.....see what the temp is out of the dryer vent with the vent hose off, probably be around 150 or so  + 10 or  20 degrees.....get the fuse replaced asap and do not run it when you are not right there by it until it is replaced just in case...

Thanks to both of you, RegUS and Pegi.

Is there a link that shows how to replace the fuse? Or maybe instructions come with it?

Yes, already placed the order for the kit. PDF instruction sheet did not actually say anything about how to do the replacement, but did answer my question about where the 3rd thermostat/fuse was supposed to go (it doesn't--for gas!).

Kit will be here on Tues. In mean time, if I have to use the dryer, will be with caution, as encouraged.

Thanks again. Hope you enjoy your weekend.

When you touch the leads together. That is a circuit, whatever tha dang meter reads when ya do that is close.
Just bypass the dang thang long enough to see if the dryer will run.
