:(  Anyone have any problems with odors (mildew type odors) in this type of LG front end loader?  My washer is about 1 year old and seems to be developing more and more of an odor problem.  We wipe down the seal and run Tide Washer Machine cleaner (for HE washers) through it, but it does not seem to help.  I have heard that these do not fully drain and also may have seal issues where it traps the moldy build up in the seal where it is not accessible?

Anyone have a good solution to this and is there a repair manual that tells me how to take the seal apart to get at it and inspect it better and clean it more if needed?

Many thanks for the help. :)

Mold and mildew is a problem with any front loader ...
(depending on area location, etc)

It won't matter if it doesn't fully drain, the (clear) final rinse water will get flushed out on the next wash cycle,
usually in less than a few days...

The build-up occurs under the lip of the Seal in the Door opening...

You'll see the lip has (2) notches... lift up in that area and clean underneath ...

Have you run the Tub Clean Cycle regularly as mentioned in the Owner's Manual ?

TUB CLEAN is a special cycle for cleaning the inside of the washer.

This cycle uses higher water level with higher spin speed.

Perform this cycle regularly.

(follow the complete instructions)

Also, leave the door open between uses to let it dry out /air out.

pour 1 qt of water FIRST, then 1 cup of bleach in the basket. now start tub clean cycle with bleach in the dispenser. do that until it doesnt stink anymore. repeat once a month

leave door open when not in use to prevent smell from coming back

I have owned the LG Tromm WM2233HW for 1 year now, and have never had any odor at all. I ALWAYS keep the door and detergent drawer open when not in use so it can dry out. I generally wash my laundry on the weekends, and always end with bleach or sanitary cycles. Afterwards, I run the clean cycle. Overkill, maybe. But running the clean cycle once a week, 4x a month and leaving the door open, keeps this thing sparkling clean and odor free!

Thanks Everyone---I have tried all of these things and used several commercially available items as well and nothing seems to cure or totally eliminate the problem.  Afresh, Smelly Wash, Bleach, Multiple tub cycles.

I am just going to take it apart.  Does anyone have a service manual to share for this machine in how to take it apart and have a look inside?

Many thanks.

Yes I have cleaned in this area, in both notch areas of the seal.  I am going to take it apart to see if I can see anything else.  Is there a link to a service manual that you might have to help me take it apart?  I knew how to take my old Maytag Neptune apart, but not this one.  Many thanks.
