I am going to guess that the Water inlet valve needs to be replaced but I want to make sure.

Here is the situation:

You run a load of laundry... run cycle normally, drains all is well. Move clothing to dryer... life goes on. On some days you will notice that there is a couple inchs of water in the bottom of the Washer drum which wasn't there before. It's clean (non-soapy) water. I am going to guess that one of the solenoids in the "water inlet value" is slowly failing or is gunked up and isn't closing all the way. It never fills very much and it's a random occurance but it's becoming more regular these days.

If this is the issue can you please post the location of how to access the pump.

Thanks for the advice. The repair went smoothly. Hopefully I don't see any water filling the basin for some time. There was a little bit of gunk on the cold water filter.

For those doing this repair it's really easy. You can access the pump from the top of the Unit.

The steps were really simple: (total repair time was under 30 minutes. Including looking for any tools you need )

Unplug the washer
Turn off hot and cold water.
Wiggle the until out until you can access the screws.
Remove the 3 screws that hold the top cover.
Remove the hot and cold water fittings.
Remove the single screw holding the Water Inlet Valve.
With the wires and hose attached I could get better access to the Water Inlet Valve by pulling it out of the unit.
Carefully remove the power clips. ( I used a wide flat head screwdriver and twisted in the gap to get the clips to release and then wiggled them off, as they are pretty snug and I did not want to pull any wires using brute force. As I removed each one I put them on the new unit.
Remove the hose from the old pump. (This was the hardest part, I used a little vice-grip to hold the clamp open and did a lot of twisting and pulling. It' slowly will come out.
Attach the hose to the new unit and release the clamp.
Put the unit back where it lives.
Put the screw that holds the Water Inlet Valve.
Re-attach the water. ( if you forgot there is an H and C stamped on the back of the unit to remind you. )
[At this point I plugged in the washer, and turned the water back on and verified the everything was working. I ran a quick cold cycles, and felt temp on the hose after the pump. Then ran a couple second of a hot cycle and verified the hot water. All was well.]
Put the cover back on and screw it on.
Put the washer back making sure it's happy and level.
Show the family your handy work... drink a beer.

Thanks for fixing the issue. I'm sorry I called it a pump, I was being lazy and didn't scroll up to see the actual name. It's clearly two solenoids and not a pump.
