BOSCH Washer Nexxt WFMC3200UC /01 | FD8408 | 902404

Now the story about our washer: Service guy comes for routine maintenance call, the washer works properly and has worked for the past few years. The service guy sees that the top cover has a crack and says he is going to replace that since SEARS will pay for it. We told them we don’t really care about the cosmetics as long as the washer works properly. But we figured why not if that is included in the extended warranty from SEARS.

Well the part came in and the service man tried to change it, that is where the trouble started. He had no clue how to take the machine apart and change that panel out. According to my wife (I was at work) he had quite the trouble getting it off and then the new one in place. But he somehow managed to change it and then went on to put everything back together and do a test run on the washer. Water comes in, machine makes noise but the drum is not turning.

Service guy figures he damaged the system board when he changed that cosmetic part. So he orders a new system board. Everything takes a few weeks up here. New system board gets put in, but drum is still not working. Maybe there is something wrong with this board too, so he orders a new one. After a few weeks that gets put in but machine still does not work. He does some measuring with a multimeter and says everything is normal. He does not know what the problem is and BOSCH will not help him. He has no service manual or instructions from BOSCH to work on these appliances. He said he is giving up, he cant figure it out. We talked to SEARS they give us the run around saying they will call us back, but no one ever does. At one point thet offered us $ 400 Canadian. I don’t think so, not for a machine I paid 1500 for and then an extra how many hundred for the extended warranty.

So does anyone here have a clue why the drum is not turning? The belt is ok, the drum turns freely by hand. Water fills and drains.

Ah yes this is going on since before Christmas 2008, needless to say my wife is getting very frustrated with having to run to the Laundromat every week. We have 6 kids and lots of laundry.

Wow! This really is a sad story. If he had trouble removing the top panel, which comes off in a giff AFTER you unscrew the control panel, then there's no telling what he might have screwed up. I'd start at the control panel. He probably didn't secure it properly and I'll bet it experienced some forces that it wasn't designed to handle, especially on those delicate wire harness connectors.

I'll PM you the download link for the service manual so you can run some tests in diagnostic mode.

...machine makes noise but the drum is not turning.

Could you elaborate on this? Like a motor noise?

The other thing to check is the wiring to the door switch. If

The "if" is a typo. It was late when I posted that.

All is working, my wife is happy.

I ran the motor test las night according to the service manual, it gave me the error code for unbalanced load, since there was nothing in the washer that could not have been the problem. So i took the top panel off to look at the system board that was replaced, i compared all the wiring to the service manual, unplugged them all and made sure they where plugged in all the way properly. While doing that i heard a click from the systemboard itself, so i dont think it was installed properly, not all the way clicked in. Put everything together again and ran the motor test again and i couldnt believe my eyes when that drum started turning first slowly a little to the left and to the right and then fullspeed ahead. :) Life is good :)

Now we just need to get that dishwasher working again.
