I recently got the dreaded F6 fault code--"wash motor fault"--in my W660. On restarting, I could see that the motor was spinning one way in the wash cycle, but when it was supposed to spin the other way, it just gave a couple of quiet clicks, then eventually showed the fault code again. Today I opened the thing up for a look-see; I took out the motor and checked the brushes (one of which I replaced last year). Everything looked fine, including the top and bottom circuit boards. I started it up again and got the code almost immediately, and no amount of rebooting and button-pushing could keep it running for more than a minute or so. The consensus on this site and elsewhere appears to be that I need a new motor, but before I shell out the $300, is there some way I can determine that it's not one of the boards or something else? And more broadly, can anyone explain what happens when a motor breaks down like this, and why it's apparently irreparable? I offer my thanks in advance for any answers, as well as a promise to contribute to the beer fund of anyone who can help me think this through.
