Hi All

Spent a hour or so here, great info and some fun stuff.

As above, the gas never comes on. Got the small door off the back it needed a little cleaning. The drum goes round and round, but never lights off the gas.

The gas control "stuff" is up in the front on the other side. To get at it I think the front needs to come off.

I figured asking here would be better than a cutting torch.

Is there anything I'm missing

generic dis-assembly      Where the top and the front join,  insert a putty knife about 3 to 4inches in from the corners....there are clips that hold the top down....push in at the clips and lift the top up....... remove the groud wire..... lift the top high, a little bit more......push back and remove from rear clips....... power off........ remove two screws from the front panel, right and left corners about 6 to 7 inches down........disconnect the wire harnesses, cut zip tie......pull panel forwards( towards you).....lift off lower clips.......remove belt...... stand on ladder........lift up on drum/ cylinder at rear,  top............pull up to release the ball from the rear bearing socket...... remove drum/cylinder.......... check the glow bar, the flame sensor .......you can reinstall the front, (install the screws) attach the wire harnesses...........use clamp -on amp meter to test the current draw on the glow bar.......... jumper the flame sensor........... remove the front......clean all lint/fuzz....replace defectve part ( buy your parts from the Repairclinic)........reassemble..........test.......  I charge $ 160.00 for a glow bar repair.........

Hi All

Wow a good start - This morning I have a errand to run - but at noon the tools come out.

Yes that does look like my model dryer.

"glow Bar"? Most gas things I have seen use a snap starter (very high voltage across a short gap, causing a spark)

I'll read up on it

Thanks
Bob

Well the tools have been collected

So I fired it up - Still mostly together - from the back of the dryer I can see the glow from the igniter after 15 seconds or so I heard the valve open and gas ignite, can also see the reflection of the gas flame.

Cool!!!

After 10 ten minutes I went back - cold air coming out. No flame and no glow from the igniter. I let it run for another 10 minutes - The burner nrver restarted.

Question - does the flame cycle off and on - on a dryer??

Thanks Bob

yes, the Flame cycles on/off.

disconnect the vent and check for good air-flow and check the temperature (with meat thermometer, ect)

With an empty load, Timed Dry, the temperature should cycle somwhere between 135F & 160F.

Is the Dryer Vent system clean ?

It should be rigid metal, NO plastic, NO PVC.

There are a few Thermal Overload devices on a Dryer that may be shutting down when over-heated.

Vent was disconnected (and is clean metal)
Vacuumed everything inside once I got the front off
Will Check temp now - when it cycles off, I assume the Glow plug comes back on??

Thanks

Back together running - no vent tube attached

The burner never came on -

Watched (from the back as the front is on) the glow plug cycled twice.

Get a little red, then red, then real red!!! Hear relay click, glow plug dims, but no whoosh of gas nor ignition.

Same the second time.

House hot waster is gas and no problems, so I assume the gas pressure is ok.

I'll poke around the relay and it's sequencing.

When the temperature reaches the 160F the Flame will turn off,
and when the temperature drops to 135F, the Ignitor cycle will start again.

Has this Dryer been working up till now ?

Sounds like a common problem, intermittent Gas Valve Coils

All - It's parts ordering time!!!

when there is gas flow there - is a much louder CLICK when the valve really opens - a much weaker click when there is no gas flow

Ordering the gas valve coils
