My washer is doing weird things:

1) Agitation starts before water fills tub

2) Water does not come in at all (no filters are blocked).

3) When it spins, the balance seems off

4) The rinse cycle seems to leave the clothes feeling soapy

5) All the above happen on and off (it sometimes works fine)

6) A variety of settings on the dial have been attempted

Help? Thank you,

check the # 5 WATER LEVEL SWITCH & air pressure hose connection in the control panel

with the hose disconnected, it should fill (but not stop filling)

Thank you.

The water level switch seems to be working fine. The tub is filling to wash and stoping at the proper level.

But the rinse cycle is not working. No water comes in. The agitation starts with no water in the tub.

Help?

This is about the only wiring diagram I could find.

It doesn't show the timer cam logic cycles.

Did you check to see if both water valves are working ?

It may be the COLD valve isn't working, and that's the only water valve used in a normal rinse.

Start the wash cycle with a COLD wash setting  to see if the water enters during initial fill, then switch to HOT wash setting and take a look..

I did as you suggested and sure enough

with the air pressure hose disconnected, it filled but would not automatically stop.

I had to manually stop it.

So I guess this means the water level switch is defective and needs to be replaced.

But....

I've reconnected the old air pressure hose to the switch but I can't get the water to shut off. It just runs untill manually turned off.

I've got a tub full of water and am stuck on how to remove the water (get the machine to work on any other settings.  Ideas?

turn the water supply valves off and set the washer dial to "SPIN"

you have to re-connect the air pressure hose when the washer is empty.

(don't forget to turn the water supply back ON )

Does it always fill OK on WASH, but only sometimes fills on RINSE ?

It could also be the TIMER

Thank you for your help. It is much appreciated.

It must be the water level switch is defective.

Are there any things I should be aware of when replacing it.

Bill

I ended up talking to a local tech person at the parts store that said, "we rarely replace the water level switches....have you make sure it is not the air pressure hose that is blocked?"

I disconnect the hose and cleared it out (some lint and water was in it). The washer works fine now!

Thank you for your help.

Bill
