My dryer starts but stops after a minute or two. Then all of my led lights on the cycle selector light up blinking twice then it goes blank, then the run light comes on. I start the dryer and after a minute or two the same thing happens all over again. Please can anyone help me with this problem before I have to call in a repairman.:?

The dryer is 13 months old. THe model number is mdet446ayw and the serial number is 10104838gp. I had a service technician here on Saturday who looked at it for about an hour testing different components. He finally left and said he would have to ask other tech's on this issue. :(

When you start the unit in any cycle and it blinks and stops. Does it always resort back to the normal cycle??

we need to put this thing in a service mode to find out the actual failure code. it sounds like you have a bad board. the early versions of this dryer had some software issues that caused a similiar complaint. you will have to rotate the selector knob to "power off", and press knob. rotate knob clockwise past "power off" twice and stop at "regular".  now rotate the knob counterclockwise one time back to "regular" and press knob. if successful, you should now see the led's blink. now you have to turn the knob to "time dry 10." this will set off led's and that will be the error code. i need to know what lights blink.

I have tried and the tech has tried to get it into the service mode but what happens is that it will start to blink(everything)on the led before you can get there and it will stop you before you can. It will blink twice and then it will go to the normal led light up. Then about a minute or two it will blink again and all the leds will light up again. You can't get into the service mode with what ever is wrong with it. I think it's the card but not sure. Any help I would appreciate it.

If it does this, then your bit encoder is good and your board is bad. Part is listed below.

Yes, it always goes back to the regular led light then it shuts down and blinks twice and again the regular light will be light. Even if you put it on power off, it will in a minute blink twice and light up the regular. Hope this info helps.

Your board is FUBAR my friend, click the link I have posted prior and get one on the way. You might want to check your warranty to see if it is covered. The part might be, but the labor probably isn't. You would come out ahead if that is the case doing it yourself.

Great site
I have the same problem but my dryer  was purchased in 12-05

Can I assume the board is my problem as well?
Are there any differences in the board for different years of manufacture?

Thanks
Daz

MDET446AYW Service Manual

Before I describe the service mode attempt, let me detail what it is doing.
if you go into the laundry room right now, the lights (all of them) will flash twice then go out for about 20 seconds and repeat.

when putting it into the service mode, If I am quick enough, I will get to the step just before going to the 10 minute setting. When I push the knob after the counter clockwise rotation back to ready, the power off light will flash about 7 or 8 times. If I go to the 10 minute setting, it seems to not matter. I can not see it flash any thing in particular. If I wait for the 7 or 8 flashes before putting it into the 10 minute mode, it just turns on the dryer.

I am pretty sure it is the board. we had a power flicker yesterday morning and I am afraid that is what took it out

Thank you for the service manual!

The board arrived on Tuesday just before I left on my trip out of town.
Installed in 5 minutes and  it worked perfectly.
My wife thanks you, it saved a trip to the laundry mat.

Great site, now if I can get someone on the electric range forum to help me calibrate the oven temp on my stove

Thanks again for the great assistance

Daz
