RegUS_PatOff is the master of finding the documents - awsome.

Looks like we are on the right track. That relay is identified as the IDR(induced draft relay) - after following the advice of Cactus Bob by turning the fan to see if it spins freely, you can try the jumper.

WOW!!! This is great...

Thank you so much for the link to the manual... I was searching for it and could not find it...

Yes that is the wiring diagram on page 14,, I just compared them and that is indeed it is..

Is that relay a part that i can buy?? Being a non HVAC guy???
If it is cheap enough I may just buy it and replace it...

There is a local appliance shop that will sell stuff to non hvac people...

Thanks again for the advice

Did you check to see if the Relay is getting 24vAC to the Coil ?

and if the Relay Contacts are closed (no voltage drop across Contacts) ?

Cactus Bob:

Thanks for all your advice...

If you are talking about the little fan on the bottom right?

That does move freely, I did that Sunday...

Ok... It stopped raining thsi afternoon..

I got the replacement  relay, I check the spec's on the new relay with the guy at the supply house.. They all matched up....

See attached picture

The only difference was the posts where in different postions but they where numbered, 1,2,3,4..

So I plugged the wires to there corresponding numbers... Checked them 4 times before powering up the unit..

Plugged the fuse in, I noticed the draft motor went on...
( like when I jumped the 2 wires earriler)

Did not think anything was wrong... ( guess that was silly!! )

Went in and turned the t-stat to heat...and POP!!! sparks flew from the t-stat..

Turned it back off...

Went back outside to the unit and the new relay blew out.. I took it out and it smells burnt and was warn....

I have a job to do that is take me past the supply house on Thursday,, I am goingto talk to them, could of sold me the wrong one???

I hope I did not demage anything???

It looks like in the original Relay (bottom picture) the (2) Coil terminals are on the left

On the new Relay,

Pin 1 is the Center = Orange/Orange

Pin 2 is the Right = Black L1

Pin 3 is the Lower Left = Brown/Brown

Pin 4 is the Upper Left Black Motor

1-3 On both relays is coil (24V) The other two (2&4) is the power leads to the motor.
When coil energizes these open contacts (2&4) close energizing the blower motor.

Okay. The two Orange leads are the 24V leads. Connect one to terminal 1, the other Orange lead to terminal 3 on IDR
Black from motor to terminal 4 on IDR Blue lead from motor back to T2
on contactor.
Black lead from L1 on contactor to terminal 2 on IDR

Ok I thought I did something wrong, I should not of connected the wires to the matching numbers from the old one to the new one..

Sorry my brain is sort of Jello tonight,, dealing with kids and HOMEWORK!!!!

The old was like this:
T1 = two orange wires
T2 = Black wire from L1
T3 = Two Brown Wires
T4 = Black from the Motor.

Lets see if i have this correct:

So on the new relay:

The two Orange leads are the 24V leads.
So these do not stay together on one connector.
Connect one to terminal T1,
The other Orange lead to terminal T3.
Black from motor to terminal T4.

Here is where i get confused!!
There is no blue wire connected to the old one
Did you mean the two Brown wires.
Where do they go?

Blue lead from motor back to T2

Black lead from L1 on contactor to terminal T2.

Thanks

not according to the Diagram

yes, they should be the same pin numbers

1 & 3 are the Coil

2 & 4 are the Contacts

1 = Orange/Orange

3 =  Brown/Brown

2 = Black  L1

4 = Black Motor

Sorry for being so thick headed here!!

So you are saying to connect whatever was connected from the old one to the new to the same numbers 1 to 1, 2 to 2, 3 to 3, 4 to 4?

I did that and it burned out...

Should i just try to buy the original one " 90-360 thru 90-486 WR/RBM TYPE 184 "

IDR in your early post shows Orange on terminal 1 and Brown on terminal 3

Black
lead from motor to terminal on IDR. Other motor lead (whatever color) to T2 on Contactor.

From L1 on Contactor black (or whatever color) to terminal 2 on IDR

From page # 14 of manual downloaded

Terminals 1 and 3 on both relays are the coil.
I just re-read the schematic and as I said the way I last posted is how it is wired.

Thanks..
That is the way I had it wired, when it blew..

Orange/Orange on terminal 1
Brown / Brown on terminal 3

Black
lead from motor to terminal 4
Other L1 Black motor lead to T2..

I wonder if it could of been a bad relay out of the box?
