Our Frigidaire FAA055P7A 5200 BTU Window Air Conditioner stopped cooling after 13 months - it worked fine during the warranty period...
The fan operates fine and I am fairly sure that I hear the compressor turn on and off with temp setting changes, but there is no cool air and the coils never become cool to the touch. I followed the steps in the "Avoid Service Checklist" in the manual, but no change.
Any thoughts on a possible fix? I might be willing to open the unit up, but the cost/time of repair might push me toward a new unit ($160).
Thanks for any help.

| Sounds like either the compressor has broken internally or you have lost your freon, if these are not in warranty it would cost less to replace the unit, see what the warranty on the sealed system is in your users manual..

| Your air filter might need cleaning.

Check your coils!
Do they need cleaned.
A dirty condenser [the one that gets hot] will tell on itself by freezing the evap coil [cold one].
A dirty evap coil will likewise freeze with no airflow. [clogged coils/filter]
Ice is an insulator and will not allow the unit to cool.
Low refrigerant is the last thing to check!
Is the compressor sweating?
Always start with the most obvious before opening a system [tapping line for pressure checking] and introducing noncondensables [ie..air, moisture ect..] into a sealed unit
Good luck!
