I saw the new line Electrolux is releasing in January, and must admit I was impressed with the product.
Controls really cool!
fit and finish very good
I think they will have hit on their hands

They will not open the web site till mid January when the product launches......
This is not your mom's old Frigidaire unit.....
As far as repair, who knows,
but everyone has to admit since the implementation of more
electronic controls the more reliable the products have become
I know service techs hate new products in general and certainly electronics, but the real reason to hate electronics is they put service people out of business!
still recommending to buy television and microwaves and ranges without electronics?
Hardly..........(unless you do not have a clue)
buy your next car or truck without electronics. cannot be done!

I have a different take on this:
Most appliances today use electronic circuit boards. For example, many appliances use an “electronic control system” consisting of a dime-store calculator LCD display, a plastic touch pad, and a cheesy circuit board, all made in a Chinese sweat shop. Although these boards are manufactured for pennies, replacement circuit boards sell for big bucks, sometimes hundreds of dollars, and are the single most profitable replacement part that any appliance manufacturer sells.

I agree! whenever an obsticacle is placed in our way, look for the upside.....
frequency of electronic repairs is down but the oppportunity exists to make money
on the ones that do fail.....

I think the newest Frigidaire front load washers are worse than the old ones. The bottom access panel screws are recessed so far back you need to raise the machine and put a block of wood underneath it to get a screwdriver to reach the screws.
The motor control board is located at the left rear of the machine right near the motor where it can be hit by the motor if an unbalanced load occurs AND the wiring harness is so short sometimes unbalanced loads can pull the wires right out of the motor control board.
The user interface/ machine control board in the console is a jigsaw puzzle if you don't know that in between the buttons and the console are springs that will jump out if you take the electronic control out of the console.
About the only thing they might have corrected is NOT to glue the door boot to the front of the machine and I hope they finally fixed the rear seal and rear bearing issue.

| The Affinity series washers are even worse, there is no front access panel. To clear/replace a drain pump you'll now need to pull the whole unit out and work from the rear. Not going to be easy to diagnose a leak on them either. I find a #2 square drive bit in a long 1/4" drive 1/4" socket driven by a ratchet can almost get the screws out on the normal units such as "LTF2940***", etc. Getting them back in is always a pain, the block is absolutely necessary.

| Oh, and another thing, their dishwashers are total garbage, the drain pump on these is ridiculous to try to access without totally removing the dishwasher from under the counter. I think they need to go back to D & M's old design, it seems it was a more reliable machine.

the drain pump on the right i take out with a stubby pic-quik, never take machine out of the wall
and the newer ones the drain pump is right up front, you can open pump without even removing the hoses now
but ya those screws under the access panel.... i'd like to meet that engineer in a dark alley, he was prolly the same one that said "hey the affinity would be real pretty if we give the servicers no way to fix it"
i carry my steel toe boots down to work on the ones with the burried screws, yes.... to prop the machine up

I have seen some obsurd comments but the D&M comment takes the cake,
Maybe it was the worse dishwasher ever made, and if you cannot handle repair on
these, how do you cope with dishwashers like Bosch?

| That my friend, was sarchasim. I agree that the D&M dishwasher was a lousy dishwasher. I was just commenting about the fact that Frigidaire put the drain pump all the way to the rear of the unit. Even Bosch knew better to put the drain pump in the front.

oh ya, i forgot the pump in the back on some models, i remove the sump assembly on that one instead of the machine from the wall
also infinity washers...... the pump can be accessed by tipping the washer instead of pulling it out and crawling behind it
there is bottom access to the pump

Went to a training school in Victoria , they sure look nice but if you had to replace the hidden bake element on the range and replace anything on the dishwasher , you are down to 3 calls a day ... About 22 screws to get to the bake element. D/W is like a bosh only worse. Lucky for us that friggy pays the least so we have no fear of getting too rich.. Looking like it's time to retire again.
