Yep, that's a bad adaptive defrost control board. Come git you one.

Patience, young grasshopper. You have an evaporator that's packed full of ice, it takes many tides of the sea to melt. You can speed it up by removing the back wall inside the freezer and melting the rime ice off the evaporator with a hair dryer.

I am back to this super board with another appliance but I am pleased by all the familiar symptoms of a bad adaptive defrots control board. I just have one symptom in addition to the ice buildup in that my refrigerator runs all the time. Is this an indicator of an additional problem for my JCD2389DES. /s/ Your listening and loyal appliance tinkerer.

that is how mine started as well. just freezer, then it got warmer on both sides. i replaced the board as the post suggests, and now my fridge and freezer are both as cold as should be.

I replaced the adaptive defrost control, and the frig is now not running all the time, however, it seems like frost may be building up again.  I have also not seen/heard the frig defrost lately.  Any other ideas for testing/diagnosing for a novice with a very rudimentary knowledge of a multimeter?  Thank you.

it took my fridge about 5 days to return to normal..... and for the frost to go away.
