This dishwasher fills with water, cleans, and then doesn't drain the water out. It never even tries. I started the cycle new a second time and pressed the Start/reset button as soon as it started and the Start/reset light blinks on and off but the pump never turns on to drain the water out.
Any help?

Most “no-pump-out” issues will be solved by cleaning
out a plugged air gap, drain hose or disposer. However,
on GE dishwashers with a rear filter, “no-pump-out”
may also be caused by a malfunctioning piston and nut
assembly, located underneath the rear filter. To save
time, effort and repeat service calls, always inspect
the piston and nut assembly when diagnosing a
“no-pump-out“ complaint.
The piston and nut assembly has an integral check
valve, shaped like an umbrella, which closes the
collection chamber inlet during pump out. If the
check valve is damaged, held open by debris or
assembled upside down, water will circulate inside
the tub instead of going down the drain. Cleaning a
clogged valve or replacing a defective one will solve
the problem. The part number is WD24X10018.
If the piston and nut assembly is functioning normally,
verify operation of other parts of the drain system. As
a reminder, those parts include the dual pump check
valve on models with a three port collection chamber,
the adapter check valve at the outlet of the collection
chamber, the solenoid/gate valve mechanism on the
main pump and both the main pump and dual pump,
if equipped.

Hello, I have ordered a new Piston assembly and check valve, How does the old one come out ?
Does it unscrew from the top ? Thanks

Look closely at the picture. What do you see on the top of the piston? Looks like holders for your fingers to grab on to. Now, look down from there just a tad... looks like threading, maybe?

I own a GE GSD5320D01BB Triton dishwasher that will not drain water out of the tub. The drain runs directly into the disposal and there isn't a plug in it. I have checked the drain and already replaced the piston and nut assembly and still the problem remains. I don't have an air gap. No details were provided in the other drainage parts of the drainage system of this thread. I'm tired of washing dishes by hand; what, am I in the stone age?

i own a ge nautilus. water enters, but the impeller(?) (rotating sprayer arm) and the center spray tower do not activate. after water enters, all sound, except the faint hum of the motor (doing nothing), stops. if i turn the selection knob past the various cycles, water may start, but quickly stops, because the bottom of the tub is full of water as far as it can go without spilling over the top. when the cycle is supposed to drain, it sounds like it might be trying to start, but then it is back to just the faint hum of the motor doing nothing.
since this is an external washer, there is no disposer attachment or direct connection to the sink drain.
i checked under the sump entrance screen as much as i could and can't find anything clogging it. i took off the self clean filter inside the basin, at the back, but i can't figure out how to remove the plunger from out of the self cleaning body for testing/checking. i guess i don't have enough strength in my hands. is there a tool i can use?

| i used a pair of needle nose pliers... grabbed one of the notches and pulled it and it started unscrewing... was able to do the rest with my hand..

Access the motor under the dishwasher and find the fan blade between the motor and pump. Turn this to see if you can free it up.
Was this dishwasher setting in storage or unused for a long period of time? If so then the impeller face seal is stuck keeping the motor from starting. This is a real commen occurance with G.E dishwashers.
If you try to turn it and it won't turn just keep turning and it should snap loose.

thanks for the replies. as soon as i can i will try suggestions.
we eat out a lot, so dishes are rarely used at home and dishwasher may sit for a couple of weeks before there is a need to use it.
what i forgot to mention before was that the last time it was used, an empty jar was put in it. when the jar came out, the label that had been impossible to remove prior to running the washer, was gone. i couldn't find it anywhere in the washer, and figured it had disintegrated. could it be it is in there some where gumming up the works?

| Yes, that label could very well be wrapped around the soft food grinder at the front of the pump inlet in the sump area. This could be enough to stall the motor.

attached is what i see behind the kick plate. i am not sure what you mean by "the fan blade between the motor and pump"
are you refering to the blades behind the housing where the arrow is pointing?

Yes, that is the fan to turn to break it free if the seals are stuck.
That is the new style motor, the old style had a black motor and the fan is easier to access on other end of motor between pump body and motor.

wow! it has been awhile, but as i said, i rarely used the dw anyway, so it hasn't been a priority. as the holiday season approaches, it becomes much more important.
anyway, i needed to get some torx tools first to remove the motor face. i couldn't do it and neither could my spouse. is there some special tool or should we try using the electric drill motor (with torx bits) for assistance? he asked if it would be easier just to replace the motor because he couldn't budge the bolts/screws on the front of the housing - see picture. (the placement makes it very difficult to get leverage without laying the washer on its back.)

Hi
Where do I find that Check Valve for the GE Triton XL Dishwasher? I have the dreaded "don't pump out" malaise!!
I have disassembled the interior and cleaned everything I can reach and disassemble. That includes the bottom screen and the center plastic base which I screwed out. Still don't see the Check Valve.
Any help appreciated
