I have a Kenmore dishwasher model 587.16162400.  It gets hung-up during the wash cycle when the dial is at approx. 6:00 o’clock.  It continues to wash, but the dial does not continue to rotate.  If I manually turn the dial one click, it will continue the cycle but get hung-up again before completing the cycle.  In every case the cycle will continue if the dial is “helped” manually.  In the process of trouble-shooting I took off the front cover and un-mounted the timer/sequencer so I could monitor it during the cycle.  When it hung-up, I put a meter on the timer motor terminals and got a reading of zero voltage.  When I turned the dial one click, the meter read 120 VAC, and the dishwasher continued on in its cycle.  This makes me believe there is another component in series with the timer/sequencer that is “open” when it should be “closed” during a hang-up.  Since there was no wiring diagram under the unit, I’m flying blind on this.  Do you know what the problem is?  Do you know where I can find a wiring diagram?

Looks like the Heater (Thermal Switches) Wash or Rinse, depending on Option Switch selected.

Could also be a bad Heater Element.

Thanks for the wiring diagram and input.  After looking at the diagram I think you're assessment of the problem has to be correct.  Thanks again.  :D
