Hi All,

This customer has a Whirlpool Refrigerator Side X Side.

Her complaint: Can't stop the icemaker. Even when the switch is Off, it keeps making ice.

When I had a look at it, I noticed the sensor in the freezer was not blinking red.
There was no light at all. I know this beam has to be working for the on and off to work on the icemaker.

But, do you change both components, or is one more the culprit than the other usually?

At the same time as this happened, she said she started getting icicles under the icemaker. That one I couldn't explain.

I checked the fill tube coming from the ceiling and it seemed to have a bit of ice in it, which would indicate a bad water inlet valve, and the incoming water could have been spashing as it filled the icemaker making drips all around the unit.

But, two independent problems like this at the same time???

I wonder when this kind of thing happens.

Any clues? Any way they could be related?

Thanks in advance

Bruce
