Hi All, My son in Pennsylvania called and is having trouble with his oven. No bake and no broil. Also, limited tools and knowledge re: stoves I had him take the bake element out of the oven and connect a jumper wire to it and then plug it in the wall. Very hot, he said. So we know elements are probably fine all around. It's a simple unit and I think I've replaced plenty of these clocks with the same problems. Any comments?? Thanks, Bruce in L.A.

Hi, I had him turn the oven on and then put the burners all on. He said the bake element got hot. Not red hot, but hot to the touch. I asked him to now try the oven by itself. He called me back that the oven bake and broil elements are working fine. Everything looks normal. What is this?? I don't know. I asked him if he had turned the power off while doing all these tests and he said he turned it off about 3 times. So, maybe the clock reset itself. That's all I can think of. I told him to bake something and give it a real test. Any comments? Thanks for your help, Bruce in L.A.

Hi Reg, Well, now my son has finally decided to test the oven with food. His wife cooked a snack she has made for her son many times. It always takes 8 minutes per side to complete. Today after 8 minutes, it wasn't completely cooked and wasn't crispy. So, tonight when he gets home, I told my son to put a thermometer in the oven and preheat to 350. When it beeps, open the door and look at what temperature in on the thermometer. Then let it run a while longer and check it again. Seems like 350 is called for, and it cycles on and off as it should, but it's giving a lower temperture routinely. Still looking like the clock ass'y is bad?? Thanks, Bruce P.S. I'll let you know the exact findings tomorrow when he calls me with the test results. Thanks for your help so far.

Well, he put a thermometer in the oven and ran it at 350 degrees for two hours. It showed 360 degrees the whole 2 hours. Cycled on and off as it should. Then last night he ran it for three hours at 450 degrees and it stayed OK the whole time, cycling on and off normally. He's worried now that there's no concrete answer why it stopped working last week and Thanksgiving is coming up. What if it craps out in the middle of the turkey roasting? I think he should just change the computer and get it over with. Anything else he should change as well? (sensor etc.)? Thanks, Bruce

could just be loose nuts/connections at the power terminal strip on the back of the Oven ...

OK. No, there were never any fault codes. The oven just stopped working one day on Bake and Broil and after turning the power off for a day, everything worked fine. Bruce
