My GE Microwave model JE1540GW 002 is intermittently failing to start when start button is pressed. Control panel responds fine; numbers appear, beeps, etc. But sometimes when we hit start, there's a click, the countdown timer begins, and the light goes on, but nothing else happens. No fan, no cook, no turntable. Just FYI, this same unit has another possibly related problem such that the fan/light/turntable all go on every time we open the door, but this is not a priority.
Would replacing the door switches help? Should we take the thing apart and clean the connections? Or do we definitely need to replace the $300 logic board? In that case, it would seem to make sense to replace the whole unit...
Thanks for your insights, o esteemed mystical appliance guru!

My first suspect would be that either 1) one of the door interlock switches is going flakey or 2) one of the interlock switch actuators (the plastic hooks) on the door are slightly bent and isn't consistently pressing the switch tab.

Bingo! I went to a local electronics supply store, bought three new switches for $5 each, popped them in with nothing more than a phillips screwdriver, and all is well! Thanks for the tip. I'll head over to the donation page to deposit some gratitude. :)
