OK....2 year old LG LDS5811WW dishwasher was working like a charm until early last week. Then........ Time display not keeping up with 'real time'...wife says it used to Seems pump is cycling....wife says sound is not typical Takes forever to run a cycle and dishes are not as clean as the Mrs. has come to expect The Mrs. says spray arms are not spinning or spinning as fast as they should(using her unscientific method) I've done searches and haven't found anything similar (without a code) so I'm wondering where I should start... Thanks in advance for the wisdom.

these dishwashers are very picky, if something isnt right they will throw a code. The time on the display is the estimated time, it changes based on water temp and soil level. make sure the dishwasher is filling with 120 degree water by running the hot water at the sink before starting a cycle. Make sure your detergent is a good quality name brand like cascade, and make sure its fresh, it goes bad over time.

Right now I wish it would throw a code! lol I will run after checking hot water...we have used Cascade gel packs for a while now so I don't that's the problem. Last edited on Sun Feb 8th, 2009 06:08 pm by domer2k9 |

you may have a buildup of detergent in your machine. run it thru a cycle without any soap to make sure it is flushed out. I really am not a fan of the gelpacks or the tablets. you cant control the dosage with them, i also notice they tend to suds a bit making the pump noisy

Will do and thanks for the advice on the gel packs...I guess convenience for the user isn't always good for the machine...makes sense.

Gel packs will cause all sorts of problems, the gel clogs up the inner workings of dishwashers, I recommend using only Electrasol powder and be sure the water is hot at the faucet before starting the dishwasher...at least 120 degrees.

Meat thermometer doesn't quite get to 120...Could it be the combination of being a little gummed up and not quite hot enough water? We are running a cycle with no soap right now.

There is water...Not sure if it's enough. Do I run the diagnostics to find that out? I don't want to hurt the pump if it's not already. Wouldn't a problem like that throw a code though?

Wouldn't a problem like that throw a code though? its supposed to. the motor will spin too fast because it isnt under enough of a load. and you will get an excessive rpms code

it sounds like it is waiting for the water to heat. you may have broken heater wire inside the door. i would remove the outer door panel and inspect the wiring near the bottom of the door. look closely at the brown and orange wires.

Display says 1:09....when I open the door I get heat and some steam. I will put the meat therm. inside and report back...Is there more than 1 heater? The fact that I get steam means the heater is at the very least getting power I assume.

On a side note...yesterday I turned off the breaker for about 15 minutes hoping to reset the board.

looks like the incoming temp is just under 120 The DW has been working fine until early last week....No changes have been made and we do have hot showers....Though my 13 year old water heater has crossed my mind as an issue in this mess. Last edited on Sun Feb 8th, 2009 10:51 pm by domer2k9 |

how long has it been in this part of the cycle? has it drained and refilled. do you think its possible when it drains and refills it is filling with cold water? an amp meter will be necessary to test the heater.
