I broke one of the ends off my GE microwave door latch and need to replace the assembly. I removed the plastic choke and now was wondering how I remove the latch? Do I need to remove anything else or does it pop out? Last edited on Thu Jan 1st, 2009 02:59 pm by regulator |

Microwave door handle Open the microwave door and look at the very outer edges. There is a plastic strip 1-2 inches wide that goes all the way around the door window on the inner part of the microwave door. This plastic strip can be split from the door with a butter or putty knife. Push the knife into the space between the plastic strip and the outer door panel. GENTLY pry the plastic strip away from the outer door panel. Move around the door, separating strip a little at a time until the plastic strip separates from the panel. Once the strip is off the spring(s) can be removed from the latch hooks and the hook assembly slid up or down to remove it from a track in the door panel.
