Bosch Dishwasher Model # SHY56A05UC/14 FD830400231 When the dishwasher initially starts the water is pumped in for only 25seconds and stops leaving standing water in Dishwasher approximately ¾ of an inch deep. It does not spray the water as the dishwashing soap is still on the cover door. It did drain over night though. It seems to partially cycle? As it is now in the Dry mode but no water has been pumped in as the dish detergent is still on the door wall. A little bit of water did get pumped in but then quit? It now reads clean and no standing water is evident. I think it has cycled but with little or no water. I put my multi meter to the water inlet solenoid. I turned on the dishwasher and no power to the water inlet solenoid at first and then I had 110 power for about 45 seconds and water pumped into the dishwasher and then the water inlet solenoid shut off prematurely and it shows no power reading on the multi meter. I have approximately ½ to ¾ of an inch of water in the bottom portion of the dishwasher and no more water comes for the duration. Should I replace water inlet solenoid or try something else?

My Bosch puts in about 1/2" water on the bottom of the washer--above the debris screen. After filling to this level the circulation pump kicks in. I would not assume no water is circulating just because you have soap on the door. This could be caused by hard water, or a bad choice of dishsoap. After the washer has started to run you should be able to open the door and see if water has been spraying onto the dishes. If there is no evidence of water being sprayed your circulation pump is not working. If your circulation pump is not working check the debris screen and the sump. If they are clogged water will not circulate.

I have checked the debris screen and the sump. There is no debris. There is no water being pumped into the dishwasher after about 45 seconds. Thanks Howard

Only replace the pump if it it will not spin freely. To see if it spins freely remove the pump from the dishwasher and then remove the top of the pump. (There is a tab on the outer edge of the pump housing that locks it in place, depress the tab and the pump housing will turn and come off the pump.) You should be able to spin the pump impeller freely. If the impeller will not spin freely the motor is probably seized. Then you will have to replace the motor and pump.

I hate to sound like a complete idiot but where is the circulation pump located? How long do you estimate doing this diagnosis? Three hours? Thanks I appreciate your help Howard

This job is not for the faint hearted. The pump is located underneath the dishwasher. There is no way to work on it from the front. I find it easiest to access the pump by pulling the dishwasher out, flipping it over and removing it's base. You will have to be careful to make sure you get everything back where it belongs when you are done if you use this method. On the other hand it makes it easy to access and remove the pump. If you do not mind working on your stomach you can slide the dishwasher out, remove the left access panel and the screws which hold the dishwasher tank to the base and prop the tank up. The pump is then accessible. Depending upon how handy you are you should be able to pull the dishwasher out, remove the pump and put it back together again in less than 2 hours. Make certain you shut the water and power off to the dishwasher before attempting to pull it out.

While you are working on the dishwasher you should be able to retrieve a repair guide sheet. They tuck these in among the working parts of the dishwasher. It will contain a schematic, and troubleshooting flow chart which is very helpful.

Iff i remember correctly from training..you can remove a couple of screws from the bottom the inlet for the circulation pump is the round hole on the rt side...they cleaverly but a 5/16 hex on the end of the impeller.so you can put a 5/16 nut driver on it to see if its frozen..i had one that the customer did not know what the clean out was for, and the impeller blades were stopped up with peanuts... ran fine but no circulation.....

There is a gray flange which should snap off which provides access to the circulation pumps impeller. I found a 9 mm socket fit the bolt head molded into the center of the impeller.

I could not have done this job without the disassembly instructions and the photos. I am getting ready to hook it up. Wish me luck!

Well no good! I found nine coffee beans and a screw stuck in the impeller. I cleaned out the impeller and it turned fine. The motor appeared find too it moved or turned freely and it did not appear burned. It all turned and moved freely so I put it all back but the darn dishwasher does not work. Water goes into it but no water is sprayed around inside. What do you suggest I trouble shoot next? The Timer or module since I have no water circulation? Another thought there is only one light on when the door is closed and that is wash. When the door is open the cycle count down light is on and the regular wash light is on but when you close the door all lights go off except the wash light. When I slam the door I hear the solenoid valve or motor kickin for about one second or so? Last edited on Fri Oct 10th, 2008 01:55 pm by hslone |
