Hello All, This side-by-side refridgerator stopped working correctly recently. The compressor runs, the condensor fan runs and the evaporator coils get icy, but nothing else seems to work. The lights don't come on, the ice maker isn't making or dispensing ice, but I do get water. I can get the evaporator fan to run, but only if I turn the defrost timer to defrost mode and then open the door. If the door is closed the evaporator fan will not run. The defrost timer also only runs when in defrost mode. When I move the timer to start the compressor the timer quits running (I can see the motor turning through the clear plastic top). I am guessing that one of the devices is causing all of this goofy behavior, but I cannot figure out how to determine which one. I have checked all of the wiring with a volt/ohm meter and cannot find any shorts to ground. I have 120V everywhere I think I should and yet nothing is working correctly. I have searched this forum and the web exstensively and cannot seem to find a resolution to a similar problem. I am hoping that someone here can at least give me an idea of what parts to check or some troubleshooting tips that may help solve this mistery.

it appears to be an open neutral wire in the system, take your wire diagram ( number 2155536 ) and look on the schematic on the left side of page #2...start tracing the white / neutral wire at all connections, wire terminals, and thru wall connections....unplug the unit, attach one end of your meter to the neutral at the plug and set meter to continuity, unplug various items and check for open circuit.......it is time consuming, use the diagrams, use highliters and mark out your wire paths..........anyone else???

Thank you for the suggestion. Can you tell me were I might find the wiring diagram you stated (2155536)? I have looked all over the fridge and there is no tech sheet anywhere.

Look behind the front grill, it should be there......or some times people will find them during cleaning and they put it in a "safe place" also known as lost....... If I knew how to E-mail it I would if I could, but I can't so I won't..... If you pray to the appliance gods, perhaps Regus PatOff could? possibly? hopefully?

2155536 Wiring Sheet but I'm not sure, yet, if it's for your model... I can't find a reference for your model nor figure out what the problem could be ... Thank you very much for the wiring diagram as it does indeed look to be the one I need for my model. Without it diagnosis would have been impossible. I will use it to try and track down where the circuit has mysteriously gone haywire.

Thank you all very much for the help and especially for the wiring diagram. With it I was able to track down the problem to a neutral loss at the main connector coming into the bottom of the fridge. Thank goodness for a dremel! I was able to cut an opening in the back of the fridge to gain access to the top of the connector where the neutral wire had broken off and wire up a replacement. Now everything works perfectly again. Thanks again for all the help.
