We have a Bosch SHX46A05UC dishwasher & it has operated flawlessy for 5 years. Since Monday however it has not been washing very well at all.

I run the machine with the door open & see that there is insufficent water being pumped to even turn the spray arms. Removed the filters, still not enough flow...

There are no strange noises, any suggestions? Do I need a complete circulation pump or just a Rebuild kit?

Can I change the motor from inside, or do I need to pull the unit out & tip it upside down etc? A manual would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

is it filling with enough water? it should come up to the base of the filter. there may be something stuck in the wash impellor. If the water level is ok i would remove the circulation pump and inspect it for damage.

you have to remove the dishwasher. remove the right side panel. remove the rope/clip for the hinge. unscrew the tank from the base (two screws one in back one in front). lift the tank from the base and wedge a screw driver into the slot in the front where the tank frame sits in the base, this will hold it up. remove the wiring from the circulation pump. remove the rubber strap holding it to the base. There is a plastic tab you push where the motor meets the plastic housing. push this tab and rotate the pump clockwise and pull it out.

This is a big job, my instructions are kind of vague its been about a year since i have replaced one. If you are uncomfortable with doing this you may want to call someone experienced in bosch. otherwise take your time and dont force anything.

Hello, my flawless friend.  If you are of a mind to do this repair yourself, you may find the service manual to be helpful.  I am certain we can provide you a copy if you will post your email address... and then edit your post to delete your email address after the manual is sent.

Thanks for the great help guys!

With your manual & the great Bosch parts website (http://www.boschappliances.com/site_tools/orderparts.aspx?menu_id=34&menulevel=0304) I managed to order & install a new impeller.

The old impeller halves had somehow managed to seperate. It cost me $70 in parts & 4 hours to fix the dishwasher, well worth it!
