Just inherited an old Electrolux refrig made by GM (or so the door handle says) and am having troubles reaching a happy medium when it comes to the temperature selection. On the temp dial is has the letters/numbers B, A and then 1, 2, 3. Not sure exactly why they have letters and numbers. It keeps items cold in refrig and sometimes frozen. I have found the most consistent performance to be between B and A. Any suggestions or explanation of controls mostly appreciated.

Looked inside unit very briefly last night and could not find model number tag, will check again tonight when I get home and post if it is pertinent.

Most common cause for temperature fluctuations in those old fridges is bad door gaskets. check that door seal with the Federal Reserve Note of your choice all around the perimeter. Look for cracks and chunks missing, too.
