Ist time poster, been reading many posts about the treaded GE Arctica fridge. My model PSS26NGSB, serial #HH439797 has been operating flaky lately with respect to maintaining a consistent temperature in both compartments. I ran the diagnostics through the touch panel and "03" comes back with a failure for temperature control panel to dispenser board communications.  All fans (condenser, evaporator, quick chill) are functioning properly.  The evaporator coil looks to be functioning normally, slight accumulation of frost throughout. I also ran tests 02, 04,06,07, 10, 11, and 14 all either indicating a "pass" or proper operation of the item being tested; verified damper doors were functioning, etc.  I guess indications are pointing to the mother board on the fridge.  Any further checks I should make before replacing board. Possibly verifying proper resistance measurements of the temp sensors? Thank you for the assistance.

...maintaining a consistent temperature in both compartments.

Let's look at this. Describe your methodology for measuring the temperature in both compartments.

I have a nearly identical situation. PSC23NSTA s/n FL439828 built in fridge temp reading was erratic, trending warmer over a few days. Set a secondary thermometer and confirmed displayed temp was inaccurate by as much as 10 degrees f. Ran diagnostics, 0 3 failed, all others passed. Pulled freezer panel and found normal frost.

What now, o wise one?

I compared the readings on the display panel to a separate thermometer I placed in each compartment and the readings were within 2 degress F of each other, so I'm assuming the display temp to be fairly accurate.  There are times when both compartments will maintain the standard temp settings (0 degrees F for the freezer and 37 degrees F for the fresh food section) then there are other times when the temp readings will rise significantly (readings of 10-15 degrees for the freezer section and 45-50 degrees for the fresh food section).  Before I knew about this site and the diagnosis codes I would just trip the circuit breaker off for about 5 minutes from the unit then turn back on ( I can now enter code "15" for a system reset) and each time the temps would return to normal. Hope this helps further in helping determine what is wrong.

Check the condenser and clean it if gunked up. Sublime Master Reg has posted a nifty device for doing this here.

I would definately clean the coil like samurai suggested but if it works properly after a reset i would suspect the motherboard.....a common cause of failure.

The condenser coil and fan was the first items I checked.  I am pretty good about cleaning the coil (blow it off with compressed air), usually twice a year since we have three cats.  I downloaded the motherboard analysis diagram (which states compliments of South Jersey Applianace) and measured both the voltage going to and the resistance of the thermistors at J1 on the circuit board.  The following readings were measured with the ff section @ 37 degrees F and the freezer section @ 0 degrees F:

J1 pin 1 FF Themistor  2.4VDC, 14.75Kohms

J1 pin 2 FF Thermistor 2.4VDC, 16.12Kohms

J1 pin3  Freezer Thermistor 3.4VDC, 39.5Kohms

J1 pin 4 evaporator Thermistor 3.5VDC, 65Kohms ( high resistance but I'm assuming since its attached to the evaporator that the temp is probably colder than 0 degrees F on the surface of the evaporator itself.)

I also measured all the other supply voltages ( 5VDC @ pin 5 of J1 & J5, 12VDC @ pin2 of J4 and pin8 of J2), on the board and they were okay.

Since the voltage @ J1 pin 1 and 2 are below spec, according to the diagram should be in the range of 2.8 to 3.5VDC. Its making me think that the board is indeed faulty. Does anyone have the service manual that covers this unit; maybe theres further analysis that can be performed on the board. Thanks for the continued help in diagnosing the problem.

Those thermistor values are the same as those listed on the diagnostic diagram I was using. All resistance values appear to be within spec. Thanks, I guess I'll bite the bullet and replace the circuit board.
