When turned off, the (right, rear) dual cooking element cycles off and on continuously until I shut off the corresponding service entrance circuit breaker.  For this and other reasons (scratched top, missing numbers), I have ordered a replacement cook top which will take at least several weeks to arrive.

I ordered the switch, thinking it might be the problem - and because it was readily available from HADCO.  However, I'm not exactly sure of the best way to disassemble the cooktop stainless steel box in order to get to the switch (and heating elements, if need be).   Does anyone have an exploded view or other assembly drawings that would be helpful in this regard?

It is in a beach house, so I'll have a very narrow window of opportunity for accomplishing the repair between the time that old rentors leave and new rentors arrive - and with cleaning people needing to do their thing during that time also.

I think you got the right part.
I looked but couldn't find a picture to help you.  What you'll have to do is remove the unit from the counter (hopefully it's not caulked in) and there are screws all the way around.  Remove the screws and remove the top and go from there.

Robbyrig,

I have composed two different responses to you, but just as I started to put my username to each of them, they disappeared.  Did they go through?  I can't find them anywhere.

In short, all went well when I replaced the switch.  I went into detail on how to get to it without opening up the rest of the cooktop.  If you didn't receive either response and would like me to try again, I'll do so.

I really appreciated your response, and I'm sorry I didn't have a camera with me to show how it was accomplished.  I'm afraid to try and sign this, so I'll just send it.  Thank you so much.
